PORTLAND RT 103 (2pts) lost to HAMWORTHY REC 107-2 (20pts) by eight wickets

PATCHED-UP Portland Red Triangle were skittled for 103 as Hamworthy Rec lifted themselves off the foot of the County Division One table with an eight-wicket win at Reforne.

Triangle, missing the likes of skipper Matt Randell, all-rounder Simon Proffitt and opening batter Callan Laws, were invited to bat first after losing the toss.

Portland suffered an early blow when Nathan Peters (1-15) rattled the timbers of Matt Barrett (0).

Rich Samuel (16) struck three boundaries in his innings before he fell to the same method of dismissal, Harry Reeks (3-29) the successful bowler.

Dave Adkins (12) rebuilt with Izaak Russell (16) but when the duo perished to Cameron Basey (3-21) and Jacob Berry (2-13) respectively, Portland collapsed from 49-2.

Jack Marsh resisted with 14 from 11 balls but Triangle were grateful for 27 extras, proving to be their top scorer.

Hamworthy, in typical style, did not hang around in the chase of just 104.

They took 17 off the first over, bowled by Barrett, before young seamer Eddie Moles (2-19) checked their progress by bowling Reeks (18) and captain Alex Peel (8).

However, Matt Avery and Jacob Berry then came to the crease and flayed the ball to the boundary almost at will.

The duo crunched six apiece, both reaching 31 not out, as Hamworthy reached their target in a frantic 10.5 overs, aided by 19 extras.

Portland’s second string lost by six wickets at Wareham in Division Five.
