CHARLTON DOWN 123-1 (20pts) beat KINGSTON LACY 122 (2pts) by nine wickets
CHARLTON Down secured an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Kingston Lacy to keep the pressure on County Division Three leaders Chalke Valley.
Down’s victory was founded on an excellent all-round bowling display.
Lacy won the toss and batted but found runs hard to come by against the right and left-arm swing options of Dan Stevens (2-14) and Mark Homewood (3-11).
Keiran Heath struck in the 20th over bowling John Burns (6) with the score on 32-3.
Lewis Harrington removed the dangerous Neil Lewis for 19 with the score on 59-4 and Joe Taylor (2-29) continued his bowling form from last week to leave Kingston struggling on 85-6.
This soon became 95-7 when Cameron Lucas bowled James Holton for 30. The returning Stevens and Homewood polished off the tail to leave Kingston Lacy all out for 122.
Charlton Down batted positively led by captain Jack Eveleigh (48no) and Lucas (44) who compiled another 50-run opening partnership. Lucas (44) batted well scoring quick runs and was ably helped by Eveleigh who remained on 48 not out.
