HELEN Nelmes hailed a “brilliant” open day at Warmwell Racing Stables and Stud as more than £700 was raised in the name of charity.
The Dorset trainer opened the doors at Warmwell and around 200 guests descended on the venue for a tour of the headquarters and the chance to see her top horses.
Those in attendance were also given details of the newly-formed Warmwell Racing Club, where a maximum of 50 members will get the chance to own three horses.
Nelmes said: “It was a brilliant day, we were lucky not to have any rain and we made more than £700 for the Dorset Air Ambulance.
“I thought the turnout was wonderful considering there has been so much going on and we must have had around 200 people.
“People came to meet the horses, see what goes on at the stable and learn about the race club which we have launched.
“There was quite a lot of interest in the race club, which was good as that was one of the reasons for holding the open day.
“Obviously the main reason was to try and raise as much money for charity as we could, but we also want to tell people about the new race club we are running.
“There are still spaces left but they are limited to 50. And for £800 a year you can be in a club which has three horses running in it.”
