WEYMOUTH’S smart new strip has another welcome addition for the forthcoming season.

Following their fantastic link-up with the Riviera Hotel, the Terras have now forged a closer association with two local charities, the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and CLIC Sargent, thanks to an idea that stemmed from their recent patrons’ draw.

A club statement reads: “Weymouth FC’s home and away shirts, which have the club’s main sponsor, Riviera Hotel, on the front, will have a fantastic local charity on the back for the 2012/13 season.

“One of our patron platinum draw winners won this package and they mentioned to Glenn Taylor and Iain Stone on the night that they would like to think over what to have on the back of the home and away shirts.

“The local Weymouth couple has since chosen to have the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust logo on the back of the home shirt and the CLIC Sargent logo on the back of the away shirt.

“The commercial team has made contact with both charities and they are absolutely thrilled and delighted.

“The football club will have collection boxes for each charity in the club shop on match-days, and will do a bucket collection for each at a pre-arranged home game during the season.

“This is a wonderful gesture and we are sure that it will help raise the profile of these two very caring charities.”

The Terras’ patrons draw saw plenty of local businesses scoop prizes including Refrigeration Specialists Ltd (Bab’s Stand sponsorship), Graham Cole Manage-ment (Weymouth End Stand sponsorship), Vicky The Channel Swimmer (back of home/away shirts sponsorship) and Prototype Electronics Ltd (back of home/ away shorts sponsorship).
