TOM England is backing Wey-mouth to push the league leaders all the way at the Leaze this weekend.

The Seasiders have been in fantastic form of late, winning five out of their last six games, but tomorrow they face a Wimborne & Colehill outfit (1.30pm) that have lost just once all season and look favourites to land the Dorset Premier League title.

England told Echosport: “We are extremely high on confidence at the moment and looking forward to trying to upset the league leaders.

“I missed the game against them earlier in the season but by all accounts we were on top that day and a bit unfortunate with the weather in what turned out to be a rain-affected defeat.

“It was still a strong performance though and I am sure we can push them close again.”

England went on to add: “Everyone at the club seems to be going in the right direction now.

“The bowlers are doing well, the batsmen are scoring runs and our fielding has been excellent. There is also plenty of competition for places now with Will McKay and Tim Guyett, amongst others, pushing hard to step up from the seconds, so it is all looking a lot more encouraging.

“At the start of this season we did not expect to do too much with the main aim purely being survival but we appear to have turned a bit of a corner now and all we want to do is keep that momentum going.”

Wimborne currently sit 12 points above Parley at the summit and England is under no illusions about the proposition his side face.

He said: “Wimborne are a strong all-round side and they will be confident of making home advantage count.

“They have one of the best pitches in the league with quite a big outfield so we know it is going to be a hard day but I see no reason why we cannot come out on top and blow the title race wide open.”

The Seasiders have made one change to the side that beat Ferndown Wayfar-ers last weekend with McKay replacing the unavailable Rob Nobbs. Vice-captain Matt Lawes misses out with an injured elbow.

Weymouth: Janaway, White, Payne, Womble, B Lawes, England, Ryall, McKay, Whyte, Hutchens, Trotter.

* Weymouth Seconds face a tough test against second-placed Cranborne at Redlands in Dorset League Division Two (2pm).

Seconds: Jarvis, Monk, Gordon, J Armfield, C Armfield, Tucker, Batchelor, Guyett, Puckett, Sers, Mitchell.
