BRENDON King is hoping to tie up a deal for striker Dan Smith in the coming days.
The ex-Truro City man, who has been on trial at the Bob Lucas Stadium, was on target last night in a 3-2 victory for the Terras at Wimborne Town, which took their pre-season tally to four wins from four.
Mark Ford also continued his scoring streak while the third came via an own goal.
King told Echosport: “We played really well in the first half and by the half-time interval we were 2-0 up and coasting.
“However, we then came out after the break and were a little bit sloppy, which allowed them to get back into it.
“In some ways I am glad that happened because it helps stop people getting complacent and over confident.
“The tempo of the game was much higher than the previous three and we certainly got a lot more out of it.”
On the subject of Smith, King added: “Dan was outstanding and hopefully we can tie something up with him by the weekend.”
Weymouth’s next friendly will see them host Dorchester Town this coming Saturday (3pm).
