BRENDON King is tracking Charlie Clough and is hoping to have the ex-Bristol Rovers defender in his squad this afternoon.
The 21-year-old, who recently had a trial at Dorchester Town, enjoyed a short loan spell at the Bob Lucas Stadium in January of last year and the current Weymouth regime are keen to see him return.
Speaking ahead of today’s home friendly against a Bristol City XI (3pm), boss King told Echosport: “Charlie is someone I have known for a while and although he is still relatively young, he also has a lot of experience behind him.
“He was with Bath City last year and he is the type of no-nonsense defender we are after.
“We are in the process of sorting something out and there is a chance he could be in the squad this afternoon.”
King went on to add: “We are also hoping to have Rob Farkins with us today. He is another defender that started pre-season with us before going on trial at Cheltenham Town.
“We are also going to take a look at ex-Burton Albion midfielder Jake Wright.”
New-signing Barry McConnell will miss the clash with the Robins but Danny Clay and Scott Walker are both in line to make their home debuts.
Simon Evans, Lewis Clarke and Ben Joyce will also feature.
Admission to this afternoon’s friendly is £6 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for children.
* Bridport host Bournemouth Poppies this afternoon (3pm). On Thursday night, the Bees beat Plymouth Under-18s 4-1 with goals from Matt Condliffe (2), Chris Clarke and Dan Peart.
