CHRIS Jones and Aaron Williams set a new club record as Dorset put themselves firmly in control on day one of their Minor Counties clash with Shropshire.
The hosts won the toss at Dean Park and elected to bat.
Nick Park opened with Jones and they put on 80 for the first wicket before Park was trapped lbw for 37.
When the wicket of Charlie Esson (3) fell soon after, Jones was joined at the crease by Williams.
The duo then put on an impressive 240 for the third wicket, breaking the previous best set in 1929, before Jones was caught for a personal best of 175.
Williams increased the pressure on the Shropshire bowling and was 124 not out when captain Tom Hicks (18 not out) declared after 89 overs on 401-4.
In reply, Shropshire were 49 without loss at the close of play.
