THE annual Bob Lucas Trophy clash between Weymouth and Dorchester will also double up as Ian Hutchinson’s testimonial.
All the proceeds from the pre-season game will go to the ex-Terras’ boss, who also made over 550 appearances for the club as a player.
Weymouth director Shaun Hennessy told Echosport: “As a board we feel Ian deserves this for all the great service he gave the club as a player and twice as manager.
“Due to the amount of time that has lapsed since the last time he was at the club, it is difficult to organise a traditional testimonial so we all felt this was the next best thing.
“Everything raised from the match will go to Ian and we would like to thank Dorchester Town for agreeing to that.
“We would like now for fans to get behind the testimonial and turn out in full force to offer a belated thanks to Ian for all his efforts during his time here.”
The encounter is scheduled to take place on August 4 at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
* Nigel Biddlecombe is holding a ‘Chairman’s Clinic’ on Friday from
4-8pm where anyone with any questions about the club can pop in and see him at the stadium face to face.
