HUSBAND and wife Ian and Carole Hughes both tasted success at round one of the Big Cove Swim Series.
The married duo were the first man and woman across the finish line in the 1.5-mile event at Bowleaze Cove, recording times of 33mins 32 secs and 45mins 34secs respectively.
In the three-mile contest, there was another double for BustinSkin athletes as Niall Laming (1hr 18secs) took the men’s honours and Lara Bruce (1hr 22mins 40secs) claimed victory in the women’s race.
A spokesperson said: “In total we had 40 take to the water, which was more than we expected, after all the floods around town.
“Quite a few couldn’t turn up as they were still mucking out property or getting their cars moved from the day before.
“Those that did make it were welcomed early on with stunning flat seas and the sun shining like it hasn’t done so far this summer, making the swim one of the best we have seen at Bowleaze for some time.
“Clear waters and excellent conditions were a factor for the winners as they made for some really fast times.”
The series will run for a total of four swims at Bowleaze with the remaining three taking place on July 22, August 19 and September 2.
