JAMIE Morgan’s stunning strike was not enough for the Bees as they fell to a 2-1 defeat in their first pre-season friendly at Lymington Town.
The talented forward drove home a wonderful equaliser from just outside the box only for the hosts to go on and grab a winner from a set-piece in the closing stages.
Despite the final scoreline though, Bridport boss Trevor Senior was more than satisfied with the performance.
He told Echosport: “The first few friendlies are all about blowing the cobwebs out and even though we lost 2-1 in the end, there were some positive signs.
“We moved the ball around well at times on a real big pitch and had five or six good attempts with their keeper making a couple of good saves.
“The goal at the end was a disappointing one to concede but overall I was pleased with what was a good first outing.”
The match was initially set to take place at St Mary’s Field but it had to be moved due to a waterlogged pitch and it appears the same is likely to happen tomorrow night against Portland United.
Senior added: “Our pitch is unplayable at the moment due to all the wet weather we have had so Chris Wilson, Portland’s manager, is looking into trying to get the 3G at Redlands in Weymouth instead.
“At the moment we are just happy to get out there whenever we can and I am sure a lot of other clubs are feeling exactly the same.”
