TOM Legg booked his place in the final of the Weymouth Town Tennis Tournament with a ruthless dispatching of Alan Cash.
The former’s top-spin attack off both wings proved a deadly weapon in the windy Greenhill conditions, giving him greater control of the court as he prevailed 6-0, 6-1.
Legg’s prospective opponent in the final, Dorchester club-mate Clif Moreton, was also in action, teaming up with Justin Smith to reach the men’s doubles final at the expense of Weymouth’s Adam Fraser and Mark Henman.
Fraser has a final of his own to look forward to though, in the mixed doubles, as he and Glenda Fraser beat promising youngsters Annie Redding and Ryan Bissett, pulling away after a close first set.
Elsewhere, there was a notable win in the ladies’ doubles for the rookie pairing of Carly Dean and Sarah Thomas, who overcame the Weymouth Tennis Club pairing of Kate Roberts and Jacqui Mitchell in a marathon match, edging through in a final set tiebreak.
