ALAN Cash beat Ed Evans in two close sets amid windy conditions at Greenhill in the Weymouth Town Tournament.
The former, who triumphed 6-4, 7-5, now faces a play-off against Dorchester’s Tom Legg to determine who will progress from Pool A.
In Pool B, Adam Fraser began slowly against Rob Small, losing the first set 6-2, but turned the match around to win a final set tiebreak.
After facing each other at singles, Cash and Evans teamed up to overcome Steve Blair and Dave Tyler in straight sets – 6-0, 6-2.
Fraser also played a second match, joining forces with Glenda Fraser, to complete a successful evening by overcoming Julien Lawes and Carly Dean in the mixed doubles 6-3, 6-1.
