AN extraordinary three holes-in-one were recorded on the same day in the same competition, the Kingsley Cup.
This competition, which was held at the Dorset Golf & Country Club, is in memory of Kingsley Whiffen who was a very good golfer who encouraged and supported the junior section and had a lively and exuberant personality. Glen Edwards, a five-handicapper, started this extraordinary run of aces when he holed out at the seventh hole with a solid eight iron.
Garry Lewis was next to hole out with his tee shot, again at the seventh hole and again with an eight iron.
This inspired him to a score of 40 points that will make a good dent in his 23 handicap.
Julian Flower, also a five-handicapper, completed the hat-trick of ones at the 17th hole with a well-struck six iron.
To add to this extraordinary feat, Lewis and Flower played in the same fourball. Pete Foster, who played with the duo, said: “This must be a unique event and the clubhouse had a very jolly atmosphere about it come lunchtime.”
