THREE youngsters who train at the Bridport centre of the Dorset County Golf Academy are celebrating team glory.
Bradley Searle, Callum Ward and Mark Rankin won the keenly contested team prize at the academy’s Finals Day at Canford Magna Golf Club.
It was played for by teams from all three academy centres.
The youngsters have now won a round at Remedy Oak Golf Club for themselves and their academy coaches, PGA professionals Dave Parsons and Des Lochrie.
Remedy Oak will be a regional qualifying venue for the 2013 Open Championship.
The runners-up were the team representing the Canford Magna academy centre, Dominic Williams, Joshua Brooks and Rebekah Hobell.
Williams also won the individual prize with his best-ever score of 26 points over nine holes and received an electric trolley, donated by GO KART. The runner-up, on 25 points, was Searle of Lyme Regis Golf Club.
The County Academy is run by the Dorset Golf Partnership, which works to grow the game.
The Academy programme is designed to coach youngsters who have the potential to go on to represent the county and beyond.
Since it started in 2009 more than 180 children have benefited from it.
Talent assessment days for the 2012/13 academy, for children aged eight to 15 and not already involved in the programme, will take place at: Canford Magna Golf Club from 2-4pm on July 29; Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club 2-4pm on August 19, Crane Valley Golf Club 2-4pm on September 2.
