DORSET’S William Fox-Pitt was pleased with his performance after continuing his London 2012 preparations with a top-six place in Germany.
Riding Neuf Des Coeurs, the world number one climbed four spots to sixth following an immaculate cross-country display at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen.
That ensured the experienced Olympian maintained his fine form ahead of this summer’s Games.
Fellow Brit Laura Collett and Rayef narrowly failed in their bid to land the title as they had to settle for third place.
Fox-Pitt told his official website: “Neuf went really well across country, finishing clear inside the time and moving up to sixth place, and Team GBR stayed in second place.
“The course rode very well for me. Neuf found a superb rhythm and jumped round very easily. “As always, it was an excellent competition and it was very good to be part of the whole Aachen show.”
