STUART Voss and Quenton Miller have been drafted in for tomorrow’s trip to Blandford (1.30pm).
The duo received the call after Dorchester team-mates Steve Gerety and Sean Fitzgerald were ruled out through unavailability.
And they, along with their county town colleagues, will be hoping to get their Dorset Premier League campaign underway tomorrow after last week’s curtain-raiser at home to Broadstone fell victim to the wet weather.
Skipper Martyn Richards, who again misses out with a knee injury, said: “Sean is away unfortunately and Steve has work commitments.
“Stuart will keep wicket having done very well for us in the past and Quenton comes in for Steve.
“Quenton’s been at the club for years and he’s won games with the bat and the ball, so we’re delighted to be able to call on guys like Stuart and Quenton to come into the side.
“We are confident we have a strong line-up, we hope the game goes ahead and we hope we can get our first win of the season.”
Heavy rain earlier this week has again put the weekend’s fixtures in jeopardy, with Richards adding: “We’ll just have to wait and see how the Blandford pitch plays.
“It does drain well as it’s on a slope so we have got as good a chance as anyone of getting a game in.
“But we can’t keep looking to the skies, we have just got to prepare ourselves as best we can and we will have another training session tonight weather permitting.
“Until we get a call saying otherwise, we will assume the game is on and prepare accordingly.”
Discussing tomorrow’s hosts, who were reprieved from relegation last summer, Richards said: “Last year they were due to be relegated but because Suttoners pulled out of the league, Blandford retained their spot.
“They didn’t have a good year last year but normally they are a steady mid-table side and they do have players who can win games for them.
“I understand they may have brought in one or two new players as well but we will just prepare for it as we would with any opposition.”
Following tomorrow’s game, Dorchester are due to entertain Ferndown Wayfarers in eight days’ time.
Asked if he is likely to return next weekend, the captain replied: “I’m hoping to be back next week but it might not be until the week after – I’ve just got to see how it goes.
“It’s gutting to miss out but hopefully I’ll be back sooner rather than later.”
Dorchester: Belt, Dunham, Goodhew, J Legg, I Legge, Lewis, Miller, Peake, Sibley, Voss, Waite.
* Dorchester Thirds travel to Henstridge in Division Five North & West (2pm) but the second team’s home clash with Shillingstone has already been called off due to a waterlogged surface at the Rec.
