HAYDEN White and Ben Doidge have been added to the Weymouth line-up for tomorrow’s Dorset Premier League clash at Broadstone (1.30pm).

Both teams saw their opening-day fixtures fall to the recent wet weather but have high hopes this one will go ahead.

Seasiders’ vice-captain Matt Lawes said: “It would be nice to get the season started but as always you can’t do much about the weather.

“Broadstone have very good covers, the ground is on a bit of a slope and it is enclosed by trees so hopefully it should dry out.

“It is going to be a bit wet no matter what but looking at the forecast we are fairly confident it will be played.

“The thing is everyone is in the same boat really.

“The fact we haven’t been able to get outside and practice much so far isn’t ideal preparation but you have just got to learn from previous years when it comes to these conditions and play sensible cricket.

“Once you get out there it all soon comes flooding back and if we could get off to a good start and catch a couple of teams cold it could really give us good momentum for the rest of the season.”

On the prospect of lining up alongside White and Doidge, Lawes added: “I was too young to really remember Hayden’s first spell here but by all accounts he is a destructive batsman.

“If he is in for 20 overs, he is going to score quite a few runs so hopefully we can get a few innings out of him.

“It is also great to have Ben back in the side because he is strong in all departments of the game.

“He is a useful left-arm seamer, a good batsman and he is also extremely athletic in the field so he is always a good player to have around.”

Cameron Armfield and Tim Guyett are the two players that have made way for the duo.

They will line up for the seconds instead in their home clash against Martinstown at Redlands in Division Two (2pm).

Last weekend both those teams also saw their opening games postponed.
