WEY Valley and Sir John Colfox Schools were the winners at the regional Beach Volleyball competition.
The event, which had to be moved indoors to Wey Valley School, Weymouth, due to the wet weather, was one of the 16 sports chosen for the Dorset School Games – the finals of which are to be held in Bournemouth on Friday, July 13.
Wey Valley took the boys’ crown while the Colfox girls triumphed in the under-14 competition, which now means the teams will represent West Dorset in the finals in Bournemouth, where they are looking forward to playing on sand.
This will coincide with the arrival of the Olympic torch and will be followed by a JLS concert on the beach.
There are six areas in Dorset, all of which are organising qualifying events in all sports in different age groups.
The winning teams will now receive some coaching from Wessex Volleyball prior to the big event in July.
