ALAN Walker-Harris bagged a hat-trick at Dorchester Town’s end-of-season presentation night.
The county town goalkeeper, currently nursing a broken leg, kept 11 clean sheets in 32 appearances during his debut season at the club and was rewarded with three gongs – Online Player of the Year, Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Jack Lambert Trophy for sportsmanship.
The Players’ Player of the Year prize went to midfielder Jamie Gleeson following arguably his best campaign in a Magpies’ shirt while versatile full-back Kyle Critchell scooped the April Player of the Month award.
Walker-Harris, who has also been handed a cheque for more than £300 following a collection at the Avenue Stadium, said: “I kind of had a feeling about the online award because I had people coming up to me saying they had voted for me, but you still don’t know for sure.
“The other two awards were a complete surprise though. There were plenty of people you could have picked out this season that deserved something so to take almost all of the awards was quite nice – I won’t lie.
“Jamie Gleeson got Players’ Player, which was fully deserved in my eyes.”
Other winners on the night included Kate Taylor (Dinky Curtis Award for outstanding achievement) and Matt Lucas (Clubman of the Year).
Prior to the Wessex Royale Hotel event, Sam Old won the Lubbecke Cup for most promising young player, Lilly Beasley was named Junior Supporter of the Year, the Milne family were presented with the senior equivalent and safety officer John Harrington received a special gift for services to the club.
Manager Phil Simkin said: “It was an excellent evening and hopefully the first of many. Everyone made the effort and it was good to see.”
