HOLT UNITED 4 Chickerell UNITED 2

CHICKERELL United will be hoping for better fortunes at Tintinhull this afternoon (3pm) after falling to the Bulls over the weekend.

The Chickens went to Holt United on Saturday with a bare XI and lost 4-2 but had they had a bit more fortune they may have come away with a point.

Chickerell boss Maurice Welch said: “It was a good footballing game and we matched them for long spells.

“They had one clear-cut chance in the first half and took it to go 1-0 up at the break and they then added a second early in the second half.

“However, Nick Etherington then pulled one back and we were very unlucky not to grab an equaliser when Tom Peck’s header hit Josh Why on the goalline.

“Had that gone in we might have gone on to get something but instead they grabbed two more before Josh made it 4-2 towards the end.

“They were a much better side than the team we played earlier in the season but having said that both teams created five good chances each and it was just a case where they took four and we only took two.

“We were down to the bare bones but the lads did us proud and it was more valuable experience for the younger ones who are only going to get better from it.

“Hopefully now we can build on that and try and finish the season with a victory at Tintinhull this afternoon.”

Liam Miles missed the clash at Holt due to a knee injury and is unlikely to return this afternoon but both Charlie Kenderdine and Sean Stewart could feature.

Jamie Sibley is unavailable and Oscar Preece is a doubt due to work commitments.

Whatever the outcome at Tin-tinhull today, the Chickens will finish sixth in the Magna Dorset Premier League where they currently lie seven points behind fifth-placed Holt, having played one game more.
