WEYMOUTH are considering rewarding in-form Sam Malsom with a permanent deal at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The flying winger has netted four goals in his last five competitive outings and the 23-year-old’s input has not gone unnoticed.

Asked if Malsom had done enough to warrant a new deal, boss Brendon King replied: “We have spoken about the possibility.

“We have got to work within our budget but we have sat down and talked about it.

“Sam has done well since joining and he is really enjoying his football. It’s a question of trying to sort something out and getting him tied down.”

Meanwhile, King remained tight-lipped on the outcome of a disciplinary meeting to review the recent conduct of ex-captain Ben Gerring – who manhandled team-mate Scott Dixon during last weekend’s FA Cup clash with Hungerford.

The Weymouth chief said: “We are going to keep it in-house at the moment. We don’t want to say too much on the matter until after the weekend.”

However, it appears that possible replacements for the defender, who was handed a club suspension earlier this week, are being lined up.

Speaking yesterday, King added: “We’re waiting to hear back from a couple of people.”

The Terras return to Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division action this afternoon (3pm) with a trip to mid-table Banbury United and it remains to be seen whether Gerring will retain his place in the starting XI.
