BRENDON King is set to bolster his defensive options by bringing Jamie Frampton back to his hometown club.
The 20-year-old left Weymouth for Dorchester Town in May 2010 but following a season of frustration on the bench in the county town he has now decided to return to the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Frampton quit the Avenue Stadium at the end of last term and although he has not played many competitive games since, King is adamant it will not take long before he is back firing on all cylinders.
He told Echosport: “Jamie has agreed to sign and he will be another valuable addition to the squad.
“He is currently at Bath University and the fact he wants to come back to the club is fantastic.
“He is a naturally fit lad, who looks after himself, so I am sure it will not take long for him to get his match sharpness back despite not having played many games since the end of last season.
“With that in mind he will turn out for the reserves this weekend.”
Weymouth travel to Banbury United tomorrow (3pm) looking to secure a fourth successive victory on the road, but it is still unclear whether Ben Gerring will make the journey.
The defender was given a club suspension following Tuesday’s FA Cup replay victory at Hungerford Town, and was scheduled to undergo a disciplinary meeting late last night.
King added: “We will have an answer regarding Ben later today. The situation is being dealt with internally and if he does not end up travelling tomorrow we have got other irons in the fire ready to fill the void just in case.”
Despite a few tired legs following nine games in 27 days, the Terras should be at full tilt with Mitch Conning returning to boost King’s options.
The Weymouth boss said: “Banbury is a tough place to go so it is important we continue all the good habits we’ve shown in the last couple of games. We are still at the lower end of the table so it is crucial we try and stay on a roll.”
The Terras currently sit 16th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, just one point above the bottom four and eight adrift of mid-table Banbury.
Terras (from): Manley, Lillington, Povall, Gerring, Poole, Tribe, Dixon, Murray, Napper, Reed, Duff, Marshallsay, Malsom, McKechnie, Conning, Beasley, Byerley, Groves.
