STEVE Alcock is hoping to have a recognised goalkeeper in place in time for tomorrow’s clash against basement boys Witchampton United at Cranford Avenue (3pm).

The Weymouth Sports player-manager had to don the gloves himself in last weekend’s victory over Blandford United Reserves following the late withdrawal of Dan Floyd, who has since left the club.

Alcock said: “Although we kept a clean sheet last week it was far from ideal but I am hopeful we will have another keeper in place by this weekend.

“Witchampton are having a pretty rough ride of it at the moment even though they had apparently strengthened during the summer.

“They appear to be shipping goals for fun so hopefully we can go there and turn in another strong performance and come away with all three points.”

Scott Walker, Stuart Dixon and Jason Thoday are all expected to return to action for Sports, who currently lie fifth in the Dorset Senior League, just two points off the summit.

Robbie Rolls will once again spearhead Sports’ attack alongside Andy Cleal.

League leaders Portland United Reserves host Stourpaine at Grove Corner, while Chickerell United Reserves travel to Gillingham Town Reserves. Upwey & Broadwey are without a fixture.
