SIMON Proffitt and Jon Dixon took the major honours at Portland Red Triangle’s end-of-season awards at the George Inn.
Proffitt claimed the Saturday first-team batting award while Dixon picked up the bowling equivalent after helping guide the islanders to sixth place in Dorset Funeral Plan Division Three.
Tony Quayle (batting) and Sam Polley (bowling) grabbed the gongs for the seconds after they finished third in Division Eight, while Chris Leake (first-team batting), Scott Males (first-team bowling), Dave Adkins (second-team batting) and Michael Males (second-team bowling) claimed the Sunday accolades.
Callan Laws scooped the Evening League Player Award and there were also trophies for Chris Theakstone (George Inn Player, Under-15 Player), Matthew Randell (Young Clubman), Ryan Price (Young Player), Gareth Price (Players’ Player), George Munro (Clubman), Jack Terry (Under-11 Player), Ben King (Under-11 Most Improved), Ben Graham (Under-13 Player), Lewis Richards (Under-13 Most Improved) and Jack Matthews (Under-15 Most Improved).
Club spokesman Grant Neven said: “The evening was well attended and it went off really well.
“With the Saturday seconds finishing third, the Sunday firsts winning their league and all the other teams consolidating their positions, it was an encouraging season.
“The youth teams also did really well and there are plenty of good cricketers coming through so the future looks very bright indeed.”
Twelve new youngsters recently attended the first of the club’s winter youth coaching sessions at Osprey Leisure Centre.
