BEN Gerring’s future at the Bob Lucas Stadium is in doubt after receiving a club suspension.

The defender’s position at the Terras was immediately called into question following last Saturday’s ugly scenes in the 3-3 draw with Hungerford Town in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup when he was booked for manhandling team-mate Scott Dixon following the Crusaders’ second goal.

He was then later sent off in that clash for a professional foul and although he featured in last night’s replay, which the Terras won 3-1, there is a good chance he may have played his last game in the claret and blue after also being stripped of the captaincy.

Weymouth boss Brendon King said: “After what happened on the pitch last Saturday and a couple of other issues, Ben has been suspended further to a club disciplinary, which will see us sit down with him in a couple of days’ time to discuss where we go from here.”

If Gerring does exit the club it would leave the Terras with just one recognised centre-back in Sam Poole.

King added: “We put in a bid for Nathan Walker from Dorchester Town earlier this week but that was turned down and unfortunately Tim Stephenson, who was recently on loan with us from AFC Bournemouth, is still struggling with his knee.

“Due to all that we have put the feelers out just in case but we shall just have to wait and see how things develop.”
