THE nomadic Weymouth Wildcats will take part in a six-heat second-half event at Somerset Speedway on Friday night.
The Wildcats and the Exeter Falcons will take to the track after the Rebels’ Premier League fixture against Glasgow Tigers and will no doubt be hoping for another successful evening’s racing following their recent showing at Plymouth just last month.
Tim Allan, acting as the Wildcats’ team manager, said: “Again, we have been lucky enough to have gained an invite to take part in this fixture and with National League commitments approaching an end it gives valuable track time to the young riders at the backend of the season.
“Hopefully, we will also be able to use our new race jackets on the night, which are being made by Devon Shirt Designs and are being given a fresh look.
“Many thanks go to Harold at Doonans Sand and Gravel for sponsoring and arranging for them to be produced.”
Brendan Johnson will line up as skipper for the Wildcats at number three with Danny Stoneman at number two, Isle of Wight Islander Paul Starke at one and Rikki Mullins at four.
Allan added: “It is ironic really as the Exeter side is made up of all former Weymouth riders, so it would be good to see some Wildcats’ supporters make the trip to Somerset and cheer the lads on.
“I would like to thank Matt Bates for once again putting this fixture together and the Somerset promotion for allowing the lads the track time.”
Exeter Falcons: 1 Jay Herne, 2 Jason Prynne, 3 Matt Bates, 4 Richard Andrews.
Weymouth Wildcats: 1 Paul Starke, 2 Danny Stoneman, 3 Brendan Johnson, 4 Rikki Mullins.
