WEYSPORTS Netball Club took on Piddle Inn in a double-headed clash which ended with honours even.

Moby Dick’s A faced Sticklands, whilst the B string lined up against SGM Hair.

Moby B fielded a changed team, as players returned from injury, with Jo Seeney slotting into goal-attack and Hennie Helliwell being deployed at WA.

The match began brightly for Moby with the shooting partnership of Seeney and Katharine DeKretser regularly finding the net.

With the scores level pegging, centre Tasha Lund and wing-defence Leah Moody battled hard in centre court. However, SGM pulled away with a five-goal lead at the end of the first quarter.

With the defensive pairing of Frankie Glynn and Becky Vincent going from strength to strength, Moby then began to take control of the game in the second period but despite more good play from Seeney and Helliwell, and some key interceptions, they were unable to convert their opportunities as Piddle eventually ran out 31-15 winners.

The Moby player-of-the-match award went to Seeney for her excellent performance in the shooting circle. Moby A were back to full strength with Devon Welch taking to the court for the first time this season after recovering from an ankle injury.

The talented team began well against Sticklands with strong passing coming from centre Kerri Watters and goal-attack Kenna Nurse. This enabled the WeySports side to take an early lead with goal-shooter Georgia Allen on top form in the shooting circle.

Moby continued their onslaught in the second period as goalkeeper Verity Witt made key interceptions in the Sticklands shooting circle, whilst wing-defence Darcy Belle caused problems in the centre court as the lead was stretched to 24-3 at the midway point.

After the break, the one-way nature of the contest carried on with Welch and Watters providing great service to the shooters, which allowed Cristal Butcher to add to the tally.

Ele Johnstone and Fran Gurracci also put in great performances in the heart of the Moby defence as they went on to claim a 49-9 victory and another five points.

Watters picked up the Moby player-of-the-match accolade.
