BRIDPORT RESERVES 3
POOLE BOROUGH 3
JAMIE Morgan was stretchered off as Bridport Reserves let a 3-1 lead slip at St Mary’s Field in the Magna Dorset Premier League.
The talented midfielder suffered a knee ligament injury in the closing stages but boss Steve Crabb is confident it is not as bad as first feared.
He said: “Jamie got carried off with 10 minutes remaining but it looks like he will be okay. The injury is not too bad and the fact we have a weekend off coming up on October 15 means he will hopefully only miss one game but we will just have to wait and see.”
Tristan Gale got on the end of a free-kick from Sam Day to put the Bees in front against Poole Borough before then going on to miss a penalty as the hosts started the game the much stronger side.
Carl Bulman eventually made it 2-0 but his strike was instantly wiped out by Kev Collins before Ben Clarke restored the two-goal advantage with a fabulous strike from 20 yards, which flew in off the underside of the crossbar with 25 minutes remaining.
The Bees looked like they had wrestled back control but once again they switched off and enabled the Hornets to hit back with another immediate response from Sean Gallagher before an own goal landed them a share of the spoils in the final stages.
Crabb added: “They always say it is vital to concentrate straight after you score but unfortunately we have let a few in recently during that time, which is something we need to look at.
“The good thing though, was that the players came off very disappointed only to have come away with a draw, which is a good sign, even though it was probably the right result.
“Sam Day was probably the pick of our players and it was also good to see Alfie Ward come on towards the end to make his debut at the age of just 16. He is one for the future.”
Bridport, who will visit Hamworthy United Reserves this Saturday (3pm), now sit ninth, five points adrift of the top six.
Bees: Fry, Stordy, Day, A Clarke, C Bulman, Peart, McAllister, B Clarke, Steele, Gale (Cleal 70), Morgan (Ward 80).
