MELCOMBE Regis Lawn Tennis Club has two great reasons to celebrate.

The club’s A and B mixed teams both won their respective divisions, in the Yeovil & District League, by clear margins.

The A side gaining promotion to Division One while the B team to Division Two and to celebrate a barbecue was held to recog- nise their achievements.

As a further boost to the club the ladies maintained their status in Division Two.

Match secretary Mike Walter said: “The club would like to give special thanks to captains Michele Ireland (A side) and Anne Walter (B) for all their hard work during the season.

“They managed to get a team out all season and without their efficiency we would not be celebrating. I would also like to thank all the players that played during the season and look forward to the winter league campaign.”
