DORCHESTER 15

TROWBRIDGE 5

DORCHESTER returned to winning ways with victory over early-season strugglers Trowbridge.

The county town were far from their fluid best but got the result they desired thanks to tries from Chris Miners and Tom Clifford.

Their 15-point haul was completed by a conversion and penalty from the reliable boot of Rich Bament.

Barry Coombs touched down with five minutes remaining to grab a late consolation for the lowly visitors.

Martin Oxland’s men, who sit sixth in Southern Counties South, are without a fixture this weekend.

* For the fifth successive year, Puddletown RFC will host the annual Dorset Piddle Dash.

The Piddle Dash is a 6km (3.7 miles) sponsored run or walk for men and boys and is in aid of Prostate Action (formerly The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation).

As well as raising vital funds, the event also aims to increase awareness of this exclusively male disease, and of Prostate Action’s work in striving to combat it.

The race takes place on Sunday, October 9 (10.30am) and will raise funds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

The four previous Piddle Dashes have raised a total in excess of £25,000.
