TREVOR Senior is urging his players to “stick together” as the Bees look to end a run of five straight defeats.

Bridport visit lower-league outfit Andover New Street this Saturday (3pm), hoping to record their first win since August 23 and book a place in the first round of the FA Vase.

Despite entering the clash on the back of a poor run of results, Senior saw enough positives in last Saturday’s 3-1 reversal at the hands of Bitton to suggest their luck is about to turn.

He said: “All we can do is stick together.

“We’ve not played too badly in any of our games so far, except against Horndean in the FA Cup – that was the only really disappointing game.

“We have had good spells in each game we’ve played and I think we deserved a point on Saturday. I’m sure we will play badly and get points at a later date.

“We’re creating chances, a few mistakes are costing us. We just need to learn from them and learn quickly.

“We knew it would be a hard season, we have just got to try and turn things around.”

Discussing Saturday’s trip to Hampshire, Senior added: “They are in Wessex League Division One and they have only lost one game so far. Hopefully I’ll find out a bit more about them. They are on a bit of a run but we will go there and try and get a good result.

“It’s a cup competition and there is £700 at stake so it would be nice if we could have a bit of a run.

“October is a big month for us. Depending on how we do in the Vase, we’ve got seven league games against teams in the lower half of the table, so we need to get some points out of those games.”

And there could be changes for this weekend’s second qualifying round tie, with Darren Lock edging closer to a first appearance of the season and Joe Charles eyeing a starting berth.

Senior said: “Joe Charles did well when he came on at the weekend and I may change things around a bit as we’ve lost a few on the trot.

“Darren Lock has also been doing well in the reserves so I may look to bring him back. He had a bad knee injury and was suspended for the first two games of the season but he’s been doing okay.”

One man who definitely misses out is Gary Bulman (three-match ban).
