WEYMOUTH head coach Paul Harding is hopeful that his side’s perfect start to the season won’t be derailed by “bogey side” North Dorset Seconds.
The Monmouth Avenue outfit travel to Gillingham tomorrow (3pm) on the back of successive wins in Dorset & Wilts One South.
But given his side’s recent record at Longbury Hill Lane, Harding is cautiously optimistic.
He said: “It’s another tough game for us and they are something of a bogey side. Normally we do okay against them at home but rarely do we go to their place and come away with anything.
“Hopefully we are a good enough side this year to go there and get a result. It will be tough though.
“We are just trying to build week by week. Confidence is high and we’re getting good numbers at training. It’s early days and we’ve got to keep it going.”
Max Vallance, Max Baudouin, Gareth Iles and Dan Bowditch, who all missed last week’s 14-7 win at Salisbury Seconds, are among those back in contention.
Harding added: “We have a few players coming back so we have had to make some difficult decisions after a good result last week.”
Dorchester will be eyeing an immediate return to winning ways when they entertain early-season strugglers Trow-bridge (3pm).
The county town side triumphed on the opening day of the Southern Counties South campaign but fell to a 17-8 defeat at the hands of Corsham last Saturday.
Tomorrow’s visitors are yet to taste victory, having lost both of their opening games.
Bridport will be looking for back-to-back wins when they visit Ivel Barbarians in Dorset & Wilts One South.
Head coach Mark Botten, whose side recorded a 25-10 triumph over Westbury last weekend, said: “Ivel went down from Southern Counties South a couple of years ago so it’ll be interesting to see how we get on.”
Puddletown, who are without a league fixture tomorrow, have arranged a friendly game instead with a Swanage and Wareham XV. Kick-off at Greenfields is 3pm.
Meanwhile, Swanage & Wareham, still without a win in South West One East, host unbeaten Swindon (3pm).
