WEYMOUTH 2 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 1
IN-FORM Sam Malsom took his tally to five goals in two games as the Terras overcame crisis club Plymouth Argyle in a friendly at the Bob Lucas Stadium last night.
After bagging a hat-trick in the FA Cup victory at Taunton on Monday night, the recent signing helped himself to a double against the League Two strugglers, who did manage to halve the deficit with a second-half penalty.
And boss Brendon King believes his star man can only get better.
He said: “When he first came to us he was lacking match-fitness but he is getting sharper with each game and when he is fully fit he will be very good to watch.”
Another man to feature against the Pilgrims was former Hamworthy United keeper Sean Lillington, who has joined the Terras on non-contract terms.
King added: “We’ve signed Sean as competition for Tom Manley.”
Discussing last night’s friendly, which acted as a warm-up for Saturday’s home clash with Barwell, the manager said: “Plymouth had about seven players who were included in their last league match so they had quite a strong side out.
“It was a decent run out and it was better than training, so we’re quite happy with how it went.”
Terras (first half): Manley, Murray, Dixon, Gerring, Poole, Napper, Duff, Marshallsay, Malsom, Lane, Byerley.
Terras (second half): Lillington, Murray, Dixon (Staines 60), Tribe, Poole (Hanger 60), Winsper, Jarvis, A Skelton, Zima, De Rosario, Lane.
