FLEET TOWN RESERVES 4
Dorchester RESERVES 4
ANTONY Carlile’s late strike saw Dorchester Town Reserves earn a share of the spoils in an eight-goal thriller at Fleet Town.
Despite a positive opening from the visitors, it was Fleet who opened the scoring.
Calvin Brooks levelled proceedings, only for the hosts to regain their advantage and then extend it prior to the half-time break.
The Magpies refused to cave in and goals from Carlile and Steve Walker restored parity.
Fleet responded by taking the lead yet again but Carlile was on hand to grab his second in the dying minutes and secure a draw.
Reflecting on Saturday’s stalemate, boss Robbie Taylor said: “It was an improvement in some respects but the same old story in others.
“We improved in midfield and up front as all our goals were well worked and well taken, but in defence we gifted them three of their goals.
“It’s going to be a case of drumming the same things into the players until they pick them up. There is plenty of ability there, it’s about getting into good habits.
“Even in the games we’ve lost this season I have come away feeling excited and positive about what the season will bring. I’m looking forward to seeing how they will develop.
“We got into our stride about 10 minutes in and I thought we would go on and win the game as we were starting to dominate. But a few silly mistakes cost us.
“Results are not the be-all and end-all. It would have been nice to have come away with a win but that’s not the main goal.
“We’ve just got to make sure they keep doing the right things. If they do they will become a really good side.”
The reserves’ next outing sees them entertain Bemerton Heath on Tuesday night. However, a number of their players will feature for the under-18s in tonight’s FA Youth Cup clash with Salisbury at the Avenue Stadium (7.45pm).
Magpies: Unsworth, A Taylor, Kimber, Butcher, S Walker, Austin, Gape (Vallier 80), Brooks, Carlile, Godfrey (Twyford 85), Way. Sub not used: R Taylor.
