DANNY Andrews scored his 50th goal for the club as Weyline inflicted a 4-1 defeat on Quayside in the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership.

With both teams missing players, it was a hard game to predict at kick-off so when Sean Murphy broke the deadlock it looked like it might be the Quay’s day.

However, Ethan Devaney soon levelled matters with a fine free-kick and from there on in Weyline took control with Andrews adding a second just after the break, following a precise through ball from man-of-the-match Ben Mackie.

Scott Clark then skipped past two defenders and fired home from the edge of the box before Devaney completed the scoring with his second.

Andrews’ half-century has come from just 34 games and unfortunately for the rest of the league there are no signs of his striking exploits letting up.

The victory puts Weyline second on goal difference behind Duke of Albany who defeated Alexandra 8-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Dean Williams.

Norton Rodgers also grabbed a brace for the Duke with their other goals coming from Kevin Lowe, Lewis Espie and man-of-the-match Chris Philbrick.

Strikes from Charlie Kenderdine and Tom Grattidge saw Tuatara hold reigning champions Rendezvous to a 2-2 draw, while Rodwell thumped SAS 5-1.

Danny Sanders’ newly promoted side shocked the entire league the previous week by beating the Vous but they were no match for the Boot Hill boys, with their only consolation coming in the form of a fine effort from Sam Hayne.

Down in the Championship it is Sailors Return and Wellworthy that are setting the early pace at the summit.

Another hat-trick, this time from Jimmy Douglas, saw Sailors comfortably overcome Clipper.

The table-toppers hit nine without reply in the end with Mat Palmer netting a brace and James Vincent, Chukki Taylor and Filipe Medeiros all adding one apiece.

Wellworthy also saw Mickey Joliffe bag three in a 7-0 success against a young Belvedere side.

Lewis Conning, Ben Ashelford, Richard Gould and Dan Cooke also got in on the act for the Wyke Regis outfit, who only trail Sailors by goal difference.

Despite the defeat, Belve boss Dave Dalston was pleased with the effort his team showed and is adamant his youngsters will improve. He was particularly impressed with Jamie Rawling, whose tireless display gained him the club’s man-of-the-match award.

Elsewhere in the division, Rock and Market House overcame Dolphin and Broadmayne respectively, while Medics Away and Moby Dick’s, and Galaxy Lions and Old Castle shared 2-2 draws.
