SCOTT Gair not only met his sporting idol Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, he also beat the BDO world champion.
The match took place at the Wyke Smugglers, where Adams was on hand to deliver a masterclass and meet local enthusiasts.
And the All Saints School pupil, who also received some dart flights and memorabilia from the England captain, described the meeting as the best night of his life.
Dad Peter Gair said: “We saw in the Echo that Martin was coming down. Scott loves darts and Wolfie is his hero so as a treat we decided to go along.
“Wolfie was tremendous, such a friendly and upfront guy, although he’s on television all the time.
“He did various competitions with people and did not deride them at all and at the end we were the last ones there and he asked Scott if he wanted a game.
“I was really surprised. Scott’s only 12 years-old and he was hitting doubles and 85s and I think Wolfie was quite taken aback and shook his hand saying he was so good for his age, and all the people were cheering at the end.
“Both of us support Wolfie and he’s Scott’s hero really.
“He really enjoys darts and he practices for 15-20 minutes before he goes to school when he is waiting for his friend to come.”
Mum Amanda Gair added: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Wyke Smugglers and to Martin Adams for making my son’s dream come true.”
