Under-14 Division Two

LYTCHETT RED TRIANGLE 4

Chickerell UNITED 2

CHICKERELL were beaten for the second consecutive game after going down at Lytchett.

The hosts dominated for much of this game, probing and pushing Chickerell’s defence on to the back foot for long periods.

Lytchett’s first goal came from a long ball out of defence, which looked destined to run through to Josh Golsby in the visitors’ goal, but his hesitancy let in the chasing forward and he slotted the ball home.

The hosts continued to force the issue, and after a free header from a corner grazed Chickerell’s bar, they scored a second.

Chickerell worked hard in midfield to try and fashion chances for Ollie Barnes and Hayden Winter but they were snuffed out by a well-drilled home defence. It was not long before Lytchett scored a third, with Chickerell’s defence again failing to cut out passes across the edge of their box.

Half-time substitute Shaun Parker then prodded the ball home from close range to close the deficit.

However, it was no real surprise when Lytchett started to regain the upper hand, and scored a fourth.

Chickerell’s defence looked shell-shocked, but had it not been for the impressive Rob Weldon and some timely tackling from Connor Hill, the scoreline could have been a lot worse.

The Chickens continued to press and it was from a great pass and move sequence featuring Barnes, Neil Willcock and Winter that they opened up the home defence, allowing Daniel Harrington to open his account by producing a slide-rule finish.
