SALISBURY II 7

WEYMOUTH 14

THE Quick brothers maintained Weymouth’s 100 per cent start to the Dorset & Wilts One South season.

Both Will and Julian Quick crossed the whitewash in Wiltshire as the Monmouth Avenue side fought back from seven points adrift to make it two wins in as many games.

Delighted head coach Paul Harding said: “It was a really good performance – probably one of our best – and we played some lovely rugby against a good side.

“It was tough to start with and we didn’t touch the ball for the first 15 minutes as they threw everything at us.

“They had a large pack, a decent set of backs and they battered us for the first 15 minutes.

“They scored a try and although it was inevitable I knew that once we started to get some ball we would be okay, and that’s how it panned out.

“After 20 minutes we started to get parity up front and once we started to play the way we can play, we did really well.

“We levelled with a try by Will following a really good passage of play, with Craig Barter converting.

“We controlled the ball really well in the second half of the first half and we gave them very few opportunities.

“The wind was in our favour in the second half and we dominated the first 15 or 20 minutes with Julian scoring after another good phase of play and Craig converting once again.

“We had two or three good opportunities to put the game to bed but we didn’t take them and Salisbury defended manfully.

“They put us under a lot of pressure in the last 10 minutes but our defence was so organised and so robust that we kept them out.”

Harding, whose side sit third in the table, added: “It was a really good contest and exactly the sort of game you need to be playing week in, week out.

“I’d like to give special mention to Rich Barclay and Tony Worle who helped us out after we had a couple of late call-offs.”
