BRENDON King is backing his men not to make the same mistakes twice when they travel to Wordsworth Drive tonight.
The Terras were expected to come through their FA Cup tie with Taunton Town on Saturday with relative ease but a dismal display saw them fortunate to escape with a goal-less draw.
Now they must travel to Somerset for the replay this evening (7.45pm) and King is expecting a big response, particularly with £3,000 and a place in the second qualifying round at stake.
The Weymouth boss told Echosport: “Taunton looked like they wanted it more on Saturday and that is not acceptable. Our lads were looking around at each other, waiting for someone to take responsibility, but you cannot afford to do that.
“You have to take games like that by the scruff of the neck and I am confident they have learned their lesson and will do exactly that tonight.”
Loanees Tim Stephenson and Byron Napper both missed Saturday’s game and will also sit out tonight’s replay.
King added: “Tim is struggling with a knock to his knee while Byron’s absence is down to a paperwork error.
“He has been given permission to play for us in the FA Cup but we did not get everything cleared with the FA in time.”
Club secretary Nigel Biddlecombe has taken full responsibility for the mistake, confirming to Echosport after Saturday’s game that he had failed to fully understand a new piece of legislation, which has come in this season.
He said: “It is completely down to me. I did speak to the FA to explain my error in a bid to get Byron cleared but they would have none of it and unfortunately it means he misses the replay now too.”
