LIFELONG Wildcats supporter Harold Doonan and former team manager Jem Dicken are arranging an End of Era Party, which will take place at Weymouth Football Club on November 12 (7.30pm).

The event will provide a chance for riders, sponsors, staff and supporters to get together and remember the last eight years of speedway in Weymouth, which sadly ended with the club being evicted from their Radipole Lane headquarters for non payment of rent last November.

However, there is still hope the Wildcats can be revived with former main sponsor Doonan continuing to spearhead a consortium interested in resurrecting the defunct outfit.

He said: “We are still keen to find a home for the Wildcats and whilst the track, pits and amenities remain at the Wessex Raceway, I feel a return to our spiritual home is not out of the question.

“In the letter we received from landlords Morgan Sindall/Wessex Deliv-ery PLC back in March, it stated that if they change their plans in the future they may reconsider leasing the land for motorsport and we will be contacting them in due course to see if the situation has indeed altered.”

The End of Era Party will be free entry but all wishing to attend must register their names with Doonan on 776039 or Dicken on 07775645655 prior to the event.
