THE board of Weymouth FC has issued the following statement regarding Jordan’s departure.

It reads: “Further to recent developments with Nick Jordan’s loan move to Dorchester Town, Wey-mouth FC would like to put the record straight.

“Nick Jordan has engineered a move away from the club whilst being under contract. He informed the manager and the board on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 that he wanted to leave Weymouth FC and join rivals Dorchester Town.

“We asked Nick to re-consider, as he is a valued member of the squad, but he was adamant that he wanted to play at a higher level.

“As a club we are disappointed as we had only just given Nick Jordan a one-year contract and have looked after him very well.

“Weymouth FC will not keep any player who does not want to play for the club as we feel it is important to wear the shirt with pride.

“If a permanent transfer does go through Weymouth FC will receive a transfer fee.

“The board and the management are adamant that players that do not want to be at the football club are free to leave and we are sure our fans will all agree we would rather see players giving 100 per cent for the cause.

“We are also sure that the fans would agree that some players have not always done so.

“The board is very happy with how Brendon and Matt have started the season and with a bit of luck we are sure we will climb the table.

“Finally, we would urge all fans to turn up in force this afternoon for the FA Cup game against Taunton Town (3pm) to get behind the team in this vital cup match.”
