NICK Jordan has refuted allegations that he engineered a move away from the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The talented keeper left Weymouth and joined Dorchester Town on a month’s loan this week, causing a storm of controversy on both sides of the Ridgeway as to how the switch came about.

Speaking exclusively to Echosport, Jordan said: “I had a phone call from the board at Weymouth saying that an approach has been made so I spoke to manager Brendon King and he asked me if I wanted to move or stay.

“I told him that I wanted to test myself in a higher league and that I have always wanted to play at the best level I can.

“I certainly have nothing against the club because I was happy there with a decent deal. I was enjoying my football there and I felt my performances were good even though the goals against column did not always reflect that.

“I have not left the club completely but I do want to challenge myself and I think any young player would want exactly the same.

“I certainly never asked to leave or for them to find me another club, and it is not like I have left them in the lurch either.

“Tom Manley has been as good as gold with me ever since I came to the club and has always given me loads of support.

“He is a top, top man and he is more than capable of doing a fantastic job for Weymouth as he has always done in the past.”

Jordan joined the Terras during the summer when he agreed to a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

He added: “The reason I came back and signed for Weymouth was that I wanted to play under Brendon King again.

“I really enjoyed my loan spell under Martyn Rogers last season and Brendon was a big part of that and I really want that to be made clear.

“Like I said, I am not going to Dorch-ester because of anything the club has done, I am just doing it purely for footballing reasons and that is all.

“I know I will get stick from Wey-mouth fans and I cannot blame them for that, as I am going to their local rivals, but hopefully they will also remember how I played and gave my all in every game for them.

“They are without doubt the best fans in that league by a long way. Wherever we travelled they always turned up in big numbers and I am sure under Brendon the club will start climbing further up the table soon.”

Turning his attention back to his own future, Jordan said: “As far as I am aware, the agreement with Dorchester is a month’s loan with a view to a permanent deal but obviously that depends on an agreement from all parties.

“I have got a couple of friends there in Chris Flood and Neil Martin, and when I played against them in pre-season I could see they had a lot of dangerous players in their team.

“Following two wins on the spin, they are now just three points off the play-offs so it has not turned out to be a bad start and hopefully I can help push the club up the league even further.”
