WEYMOUTH gloveman Nick Jordan is to join rivals Dorchester Town on a month’s loan – with a view to a permanent deal.

Echosport revealed on Saturday that the former Crawley Town man’s future was in doubt, with the Avenue Stadium believed to be a possible destination.

And in an immediate response to Jordan’s arrival, the Magpies have loaned fellow keeper Simon Evans to Hamworthy United.

County town boss Ashley Vickers, who has also shelved plans to bring in Bideford stopper Ollie Chenoweth, said: “Nick is a very talented goalkeeper who wants to play for a club that he feels will be befitting of him.

“We welcome him to the club and whether we make it permanent or not depends on how the loan goes.

“We’d like to thank Brendon King and Weymouth for letting him come to us.

“Simon will go to Hamworthy on a month’s loan as he needs games. I know he has been working hard but he needs to get back to where he was last season, which I’m sure he will do.”

Counterpart Brendon King added: “The clubs’ boards have spoken and he’s going on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

“Nick is a quality keeper who wants to play at the highest level he can.

“When we signed him we knew he would probably be the best keeper in our league, and he has shown that with his form so far. That’s why Dorchester want him.”

Jordan, who is still contracted to the Terras, could make his Dorchester debut at Basingstoke this Saturday.

Weymouth meanwhile, entertain lower-league Taunton in the FA Cup.
