COLIN Tizzard has confirmed his stable star Cue Card will embark on a novice chasing campaign within the next couple of months.

The breathtaking winner of the 2010 Champion Bumper barely came off the bridle on his first two starts over hurdles, but came up slightly short when upped to the highest level at Cheltenham and Aintree.

The Milborne Port handler feels the five-year-old has strengthened up hugely over the summer and is confident there is still plenty to look forward to.

He said: “We’ve been chatting about which route we’re going to go over the past couple of days and we’ve decided we’ll go chasing.

“He’s in good form at the moment and will be ready to run when the jumps season really gets started.

“He’s a lovely, big horse now and has done very well through the summer. As I said last season, he really started growing after Christmas.

“We’ll treat him as a novice and we’ll just try to find a small race to start off somewhere, although I’m sure another nice novice will turn up as well.

“He’s a real chasing type out of a mare who was a staying chaser, so we didn’t want to waste another season over hurdles.

“I’m not sure where he’ll start off but it will be ground dependant, as we don’t want to risk him on firm, autumn ground.”
