ASHLEY Vickers hailed his midfield trio as the key to last night’s 2-0 win at basement boys Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Rico Wilson and Nick Crittenden may have got the goals at the Beveree but the influence of Ryan Moss, Ryan Dovell and stand-in skipper Jamie Gleeson was not lost on the Magpies’ manager.
He told Echosport: “All the lads played very well but Jamie Gleeson, Ryan Moss and Ryan Dovell were exceptional – they worked so hard.
“Mossy was playing in an unfamiliar role but did superbly, Ryan broke things up and Glees was everywhere – his work-rate is phenomenal.”
Last night’s victory saw Dorchester notch back-to-back wins in Blue Square Bet South for the first time since last October.
And following Saturday’s superb triumph over table-topping Welling United, the county town outfit now trail the top five by just three points.
Vickers added: “I ask the lads to say something in the changing room every game and it was Mossy’s turn this time. He said that if we had won we would be close to the area of the table we want to be in.
“It’s also really pleasing to get the win as it’s a long way to come on a Tuesday night.”
Meanwhile, with Nathan Peprah-Annan nursing a knee injury, Vickers was forced to name himself among the substitutes.
The 40-year-old said: “Nathan’s got a knee injury and we’re waiting to see how bad it is.”
* Dorchester Town Reserves play host to Eastleigh tonight (7.45pm).
