GALAXY 12 SHAFTESBURY 0
GALAXY Under-16s set a new club record by hammering Shaftesbury 12-0.
The islanders were in control from start to finish and their superior quality showed throughout the match.
Floyd Musson opened the scoring after just four minutes and George Simmonds doubled the lead shortly after.
Brendan McNulty went close to adding a third before Musson made sure to bag his second of the match.
Galaxy were running riot and Adam Thompson scored from the spot after Danny Clifford was fouled in the 11th minute.
Clifford grabbed Galaxy’s fifth and it was 6-0 two minutes later with Jake Gilbert scoring from a Simmonds pass.
Matt Sturmey and Gilbert netted goals seven and eight before Simmonds struck a post.
Galaxy goalkeeper Callum Dubber was finally called into action to produce a great stop from a very rare Shaftesbury attack.
The Galaxy onslaught continued in the second half as Gilbert completed his hat-trick five minutes in.
It then took until just past the hour for the hosts to reach double figures – Connor Eggleton firing home after great play by Tobias Moggeridge.
Four minutes later, Simmonds nearly scored the goal of the season, but his audacious 40-yard shot came back off the crossbar.
McNulty then found the net with a 25-yard rocket before Sturmey also bagged his second in the final minute, completing the scoring in the process.
