NICK Jordan’s future at the Bob Lucas Stadium appears to be in doubt with Dorchester Town possibly his next destination.
Despite having signed a one-year contract in the summer, it appears the Weymouth keeper has expressed a wish to play at a higher level and is believed to have already spoken to a potential suitor.
That club is understood to be the Magpies but so far all the parties involved have either played down the speculation or refused to shed any further light.
One thing is for sure though and that is the Terras are considering dropping Jordan for this afternoon’s clash at Chesham United for disciplinary reasons as a result of the ongoing saga.
When asked to comment on the situation, Weymouth boss Bren-don King said: “The disciplinary matter in question is being dealt with in-house at the moment and I am not prepared to say anything else.
“What I can say is that Nick is in the squad today but whether he plays or not we will have to wait and see. If he does not play then we have a more than competent replacement in Tom Manley.”
When contacted by Echosport, Jordan added: “I do not know too much to be honest and hopefully I will know a bit more next week.
“If something does happen I will be more than happy to speak with you about it but I would not read too much into what you have heard so far.
“As far as I am concerned I am a Weymouth player and will be travelling with the rest of the squad to Chesham this weekend.”
Meanwhile, Town boss Ashley Vickers has distanced himself from the matter while his frustrated chairman Shaun Hearn refused to give a definitive answer on whether the club holds an interest in Jordan or not.
Vickers said “There is nothing in it at all. Nick Jordan is a contracted player at Weymouth, his wages are sky high as far as I know, and we have already put in a seven-day approach for Bideford keeper Ollie Chenoweth.
“I have had no contact with Nick at all although I do understand that he has been on Facebook saying he is not happy at the moment.
“I would not call a player that is under contract but I do know that sometimes contracted players do call other clubs. However, as I have said, I have not spoken to him.”
Hearn added: “Ashley Vickers is really the man to speak to on that but what I will say is that we are considerably over budget already.
“No one is particularly happy with the start to the season we have had but in order to change anything we would have to move things around because at the moment there are no funds available for anyone.
“Nick is a decent keeper but he plays for Weymouth and is on a contract, and if anything was to happen it would go through the proper channels.
“At the end of the day in football you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
“We are all frustrated at the moment because we thought we would hit the ground running this season but that has not happened even though this current group of players have been together now for a while.
“If you are in the top six or even in the top 10 being over budget is a little easier to swallow but we have got to live within our means the best we can and in our current position we have just got to keep battling on but it is very difficult.”
