POOLE TOWN RES 0 Dorchester TOWN RES 2 GOALS from Rico Wilson and Ryan Dovell secured a first win of the season for Dorchester Town Reserves.
The duo struck in the second half at Tatnam Farm as the Magpies, fielding a number of first-team squad members, got the better of Poole Town’s second string.
Reserve-team boss Robbie Taylor said: “We had a few that you would call first-team players who are pushing for a regular spot there, and we also had a few young lads dotted around.
“It was a good team performance and a good show all-round.
“Ashley Vickers was there watching and he was pleased with what he saw, which was nice.
“Winning is not vitally important for us but it can become disheartening for the young lads if you’re getting beat every week, so it’s nice to pick up a win as it does give you a boost.
“We’ve got Eastleigh at home on Wednes-day and then Fleet Town away next Saturday, so it’s a busy week ahead.”
Taylor reserved special praise for teenager Danny Way, who came on for the injured George Kimber in the Wyvern Premier League encounter.
He added: “Danny is still only young but he’s one to watch for the future and when you see the likes of him coming through it bodes well for the future of the club.”
Magpies: Walker-Harris (Evans 46), Symes, Kimber (Way 35), Bell, Peprah-Annan (S Walker 55), Gilbert, Taylor, Gleeson, Wilson, Dovell, Dickenson.
* Dorchester Town A get their Dorset League Division One campaign underway with a trip to Redlands as they take on Granby Rovers this afternoon (3pm).
