South & West Dorset League Division Two
WESSEX FALCONS 15 GW ELECTRICAL 38
IT WAS top versus bottom in this Division Two clash – Wessex Falcons looking to move away from the relegation zone, and GW Electrical eyeing a return to top-flight netball.
Both teams made a solid start, showing huge commitment, but pressure from GW Electrical’s defensive duo Katy Loveless and Hannah Lee kept the Falcons grounded.
This tight defensive unit enabled the higher-ranked outfit to open up an 18-8 lead at half-time.
Team changes by both sides during the interval resulted in a more closely contested game, with Wessex matching GW goal for goal.
Accurate passes from Nikki Broad enabled Falcons to gain some much needed shots at goal, while Karen Pomeroy and Julie Collinge stepped up to sink the shots.
The final quarter, however, was dominated by Electrical, who defended well throughout the court and managed to score 13 goals to Wessex’s one, running out 38-15 winners.
FITNESS FOR LIFE 34 TEAM WAIKIKI 21
FITNESS For Life kept their promotion hopes alive with victory over Team Waikiki.
Fitness were in for a tough game with Waikiki coach Juliette Frampton lined up at centre.
And the scores were relatively equal during the first half until fantastic shooting from Sam Shrewbridge and Sophie Marquis helped Fitness take a half-time lead of 22-12.
Waikiki made changes at the interval, and those alterations paid off as they found the net more regularly.
Waikiki continued to fight hard during the final quarter but Fitness remained on top, prevailing 34-21.

CRESTA LEISURE 48 DUNNINGS 30
CRESTA Leisure took an early lead in this bottom-of-the-table clash.
Wing-attack Alison Spearing played excellent attacking netball, enabling her side to maintain a good lead at the end of the first quarter – 11-7.
Dunnings’ goal-attack Clare Butler stepped up to the mark, with tight defending and excellent shooting, and managed to bring her team back into the game at 21-19 adrift.
Cresta’s neat match play returned during the second half, with consistent, strong play from Sue Woolley, which resulted in her side increasing their advantage.
Dunnings fought valiantly during the final 15 minutes, with goal-keeper Bobby Bosworth working hard in the circle, but it wasn’t enough to prevent them going down 48-30.
* Congratulations to Tracy Moore, of Brickcraft, for passing her Umpiring C Award.
